It's About Time
Just a few thoughts....
"All our words are but crumbs that fall down from the
feast of the mind."
-Kahlil Gibran
A new year is only that...It's a new number given to the new year of our calendar. When we were young, a year would seem forever. I can remember thinking that our Christmas breaks felt almost as long as summer break. Time didn't have much significance other than waiting for school breaks, holidays and our birthdays.
As we age, however, we start to recognize the importance of time. We don't have time to do this, we don't have time to do that. Or we have to find something to do b/c we just have too much time on our hands. Mostly though, we just need more time. Time shows age. Time separates us from our fondest childhood memories. Time can become one of our biggest headaches.
All we know is the time we experience. But our time, is not God's time. Our human minds can't comprehend this and most of the world just wants things to be answered in their time. But what seems like years to us does not even add up to a second to God. 2 Peter 3:8-9 says, "But don't forget this, dear friends, that a day or a thousand years from now is like tomorrow to the Lord. He isn't really being slow about his promised return, even though it sometimes seems that way. But he is waiting, for the good reason that he is not willing that any should perish, and he is giving more time for sinners to repent." God's timing is not our timing and it's not affected by our impatience. In fact, we cannot affect God's timing at all, except that we do His will and keep His commandments in leading others to Him.
One thing is for sure about time. We must live each day as though there will be no more time. We have important work to do for God, afterall that is why He put us here. If we are not working for Him, we are working against Him. There is no in between or half and half with God. He expects the best of us b/c He is giving us time to work towards that best.
So, how are you spending your time? Does God occupy a little bit of your time everyday, or none at all. Do you realize you occupy His time?? Don't wait for Godly matters. You may not get a "next time".
